We are entirely appreciative of the idea that some donors prefer making a specific donation as opposed to a more general one. This makes the donation more tangible and gratifying for them.

We always strive to supply our residents and learners with the best possible care and training, but are sometimes severely inhibited by the exorbitant associated costs. We therefore rely on all the help we can get in order to provide those dependent on us with the best possible opportunities.

Sponsor training and education of visually impaired persons that became blind at a later stage

You could sponsor persons who became blind at a later stage in their lives and never had access to specialsed training opportunities such as:

  • ABET (Adult Basic Education and Training)
  • Braille
  • Computing
  • Computer technology
  • Life Skills

Contact us if you are prepared to sponsor this type of training and education.

Sponsor the care of visually impaired persons

You could choose to sponsor the care of one or more of the following:

  • Blind, frail elderly persons
  • Multi-disabled blind persons
  • A needy blind or partially sighted person

Contact us if you are prepared to sponsor the care of any of these persons.

Sponsor general supportive devices

In order for a visually impaired person to reach his/her full potential and become an independent functioning member of society, costly devices are often required - like Braille watches, Braille machines, Braille literature and even basic necessities such as white canes and guide dogs. A Braille machine, for instance, can cost as much as R3 750. The Institute can, in co-operation with the SA Council for the Blind and with your help, provide these aids to those most in need.

Contact us if you'd like to assist in buying one or more of these devices.

Fundraising

Due to financial constraints, the Institute is constantly trying to find innovative ways to raise additional funds.

Contact us, if you'd like to assist  in organising a fundraiser.

Volunteering

You may prefer to pull up your sleeves and become actively involved in assisting the blind, visually impaired or multi-disabled people we care for and assist.

Contact us if you would like to become involved.

Bequests

If you'd rather donate by means of a gift in your Will, this would also be much appreciated. Read more about bequests.
